About Our Therapists

Annie Phannick, LCSW

I received my Master of Social Work degree at the University of Denver and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Georgia. My current specialization is working with adults in individual and couples therapy that are experiencing depression, anxiety, relationship conflict, life transitions, relational trauma, and addiction.  Throughout the years, I’ve worked with diverse populations in various health and wellness settings, including trauma hospitals, HIV clinic, and addiction treatment center. My graduate internship involved the facilitation of support groups with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. I have completed yoga teacher training and interned at an organization that brought yoga into organizations serving marginalized populations. It has been an honor for me to witness the strength and resiliency of those who have experienced insufferable pain and trauma. The culmination of my experiences has informed the way I approach my mental health practice and view health and wellness.

Practicing yoga and mindfulness was an entryway into learning about the body’s role in calming the nervous system and bringing awareness of the mind into the present moment. I strongly believe in the power of healing through the mind-body connection, personal emotional growth, and human relationships. My goal is to assist you to develop and strengthen your inner tools and resources in order to manage overwhelming emotions and thoughts. I strive to create a space where you feel supported to talk about your worries, struggles and anxieties without judgement. I am curious to explore your past experiences and earlier attachment, as themes from the past have the power to affect our current behaviors and relationships. It is my belief that regardless of what your current stressors are, or have been, you are capable of reaching your emotional potential, and living a fulfilled life through obtaining balance, wellness, and peace. I am aware of, and sensitive to, the importance of each person’s ethnic, cultural, sexuality, and spiritual backgrounds and account for these distinctions when developing my approach.

I use gentle guidance informed by evidence-based practices and engage in collaboration with you to help you meet your therapy goals. My training includes being a Certified Trauma Professional and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) which is an evidence-based approach for helping you heal from painful parts of your past. Specifically for couples, I have trained in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) which helps couples identify and get unstuck from their patterns and improve their connection.  My clinical work is also informed by mindfulness-based therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, attachment theory, and internal family systems. I look forward to walking beside you on your journey through self-growth and healing.

Sage Weatherby, LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Georgia. I grew up in Georgia and have lived most of my adult life in Atlanta. I attended Berry College, where I received B.F.A. in Studio Art. I worked in the jewelry industry for several years before returning to school. I earned my Masters in Social Work (M.S.W.) and a certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy at The University of Georgia. In the years between my degrees, I navigated life as a young adult, negotiating relationships and managing a career change.

Since becoming a mental health therapist, I have provided therapy in residential, day treatment, intensive outpatient settings, and private practice. My experience is working with individuals with a dual diagnosis (mental illness and addiction). Through this experience, I noticed that the family members are an integral part of the patient’s recovery and often do not have the support that they need to manage their role in their loved one’s life. Since moving into private practice, I have focused on working with folks in this support role, either through individual, couples, or family therapy. I also work with folks in all kinds of transitions and points of the journey as they explore the relationship between their past, including the family of origin, and creating the future they want to design for themselves.

I am a mindfulness-based therapist that encourages meditation, mindfulness, and body-centered strategies. I have experience and training in a wide range of proven and effective therapeutic approaches. For trauma, I have trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which is an evidence-based approach for helping you heal from painful parts of your past. For couples therapy, I have received training for Emotionally Focused Therapy and Gottman therapy. I also have experience with dialectical behavior therapy (D.B.T.) and cognitive behavior therapy (C.B.T.), which can help us cultivate skills, build insight, and better relationships, with ourselves and others.

I work from a holistic perspective and provide integrated care through communication with other providers that may be a part of your treatment. We identify other support areas for you in the community, including personal practices, support groups, and other providers.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the catalyst for change and I hope to build a relationship of trust and collaboration with each person. Through therapy, we bring about lasting change so you can reach your goals. It would be an honor to be a part of this journey with you.
