Meet Sage Weatherby, LCSW

Your Decatur + Atlanta Therapist

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Georgia. I grew up in Georgia and have lived most of my adult life in Atlanta. I attended Berry College, where I received B.F.A. in Studio Art

I worked in the jewelry industry for several years before returning to school. I earned my Masters in Social Work (M.S.W.) and a certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy at The University of Georgia. In the years between my degrees, I navigated life as a young adult, negotiating relationships and managing a career change.

Since becoming a mental health therapist, I have provided therapy in residential, day treatment, intensive outpatient settings, and private practice.

My experience is working with individuals with a dual diagnosis (mental illness and addiction). Through this experience, I noticed that the family members are an integral part of the patient’s recovery and often do not have the support that they need to manage their role in their loved one’s life. Since moving into private practice, I have focused on working with folks in this support role, either through individual, couples, or family therapy.

I also work with folks in all kinds of transitions and points of the journey as they explore the relationship between their past, including the family of origin, and creating the future they want to design for themselves.

I am a mindfulness-based therapist that encourages meditation, mindfulness, and body-centered strategies. I have experience and training in a wide range of proven and effective therapeutic approaches. For trauma, I have trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which is an evidence-based approach for helping you heal from painful parts of your past. For couples therapy, I have received training for Emotionally Focused Therapy and Gottman therapy. I also have experience with dialectical behavior therapy (D.B.T.) and cognitive behavior therapy (C.B.T.), which can help us cultivate skills, build insight, and better relationships, with ourselves and others.

I work from a holistic perspective and provide integrated care through communication with other providers that may be a part of your treatment. We identify other support areas for you in the community, including personal practices, support groups, and other providers.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the catalyst for change and I hope to build a relationship of trust and collaboration with each person. Through therapy, we bring about lasting change so you can reach your goals.

It would be an honor to be a part of this journey with you.
